Patterns & Textures #1

May 27, 2014

Patterns & Texture is a photo series featuring textile inspiration I find in nature and daily life.

It’s amazing what we see in nature or architecture that can inspire textile design. Interesting lines, textures, colours, light fall… the simplest thing triggers an idea.

For example, as soon as I saw the side of this building (last picture) I immediately imagined it as a woven wall hanging, the pattern achieved through various shades and weights of yarn.

What do you see?

wall1The first three pictures I took at La Quinta Resort in California (amazing!), while the last two are the side of a medical building at the University of Toronto.
