On our second day in Gothenburg we decided we were shopped/citied out and needed a nature day. We went to the Northern Archipelago of Gothenburg and took the ferry between a few of the islands. It was quite literally a breath of fresh air to be out of the city for a while! It’s a completely different lifestyle on the islands. I think one of them didn’t even allow vehicles, and it was sweet seeing things like make-shift libraries above the mailboxes at the ferry stations.
Pro tip: check the ferry schedule ahead of time and bring a copy with you so you know how frequently they run, and most importantly, when they stop running. We may have made a few scheduling miscalculations…. and we may have gotten on the wrong ferry over… and we mayyy have climbed to the very top of that yellow barge/ferry past various warning signs written in Swedish. Oops!
